Irrera Brothers Music

Hailed by world-renowned violinist and pedagogue Zvi Zeitlin as “two gifted boys”, the critically acclaimed Irrera Brothers Duo has captivated audiences throughout the United States and abroad. The New York Concert Review cited their 2013 concert in Carnegie Hall as a “riveting and dynamic performance”. Joseph and John have also performed at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Eastman Theatre, and internationally throughout France, Germany, Italy, and Costa Rica. Joseph and John each began their musical education at the age of five. Their talent for music was quickly recognized and after only six years the brothers entered the Eastman School of Music’s Pre-College Division where they received a multi-faceted musical education. After graduating from their preparatory education, both Joseph and John remained at the Eastman School of Music earning their Bachelor of Music Degrees in Performance with Distinction, where they worked with esteemed Eastman faculty including the Grammy Award winning Ying Quartet. After earning the coveted Performer’s Certificate during his undergraduate studies, John remained at the Eastman for his Masters Degree, while Joseph pursued his graduate studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. In addition to their duo collaboration, Joseph and John are also celebrated soloists. Joseph, a Steinway Artist, has appeared with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and performed with conductors including Leonard Slatkin and Christopher Seaman. John has also appeared as soloist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and collaborated with notable musicians such as Michael Tilson Thomas, Peter Oundjian, and composer Tan Dun. Joseph and John have won numerous national and international competitions both as soloists and as a duo. Highlights from the Irrera Brothers 2013-2014 Concert Season include appearances at the First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival as well as concerts throughout the United States as part of Joseph’s Steinway Artist Concert Tour. Joseph and John are on the artist roster of New York City management firm, Parker Artists. In May of 2014 the brothers graduated from the Eastman School of Music with their Doctor of Musical Arts degrees, the first siblings ever to graduate together with their doctorate in the storied history of the Eastman School of Music. In addition each is on the faculty of the Eastman School of Music’s Community Music School, the very same department in which they began their musical journey over 20 years ago.
