Charles d' Albert Charles d'Albert was a German composer . He was the Father of Eugen d' Albert. His son's middle name was Charles. Charles d'Albert was born in Hamburg to a captain of cavalry in the French army; on his father's death in 1816 mother and son emigrated to England (where Charles spent most of the rest of his life). Perhaps named in part after Charles Louis d'Albert de Luynes (1717–1771) or a similarly famous member of the House of Albert (see Wikipedia.)
