Mendelssohn Overture in C major, Op. 24

This overture for woodwinds, metals and percussion was written in 1824. Though the original score was lost, it was recopied by Mendelssohn in 1826 and rescored again in 1383, possibly as an attempt by the composer to acquire greater performance opportunities. Several editions of this work exist, some of them based on the rediscovered 1826 autograph.
