The 5 Songs, Op. 104, were written in 1888 by Johannes Brahms, based on texts by Friedrich Rückert (1788-1866), Max Kalbeck (1850–1921), Josef Wenzig (1807–1876), and Klaus Groth (1819–1899). The five pieces convey a nostalgic and tragic mood, and even though the parts are not technically demanding, the sombre nature of the texts makes the pieces complex in terms of interpretation. Ensemberlino Vocale, conducting by Ulrich Kaiser.
