Domenico Scarlatti published his Sonata in D minor, catalogued as either K. 9, L. 413 or P. 65 in 1739, as part of his Essercizii per Gravicembalo. It has become a popular work in his repertoire, with its ascending scales giving it a charasteristic and insistent sound.
