Verdi Nabucco

Nabucco is an opera in four acts, composed in 1841 by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto written by Temistocle Solera. The libretto is based on biblical stories from the Book of Jeremiah and the Book of Daniel and the 1836 play by Auguste Anicet-Bourgeois and Francis Cornue, using the historical events as a background for a romantic and political plot. Under the name of Nabucodonosor, the opera was performed for the first time at La Scala in Milan on 9 March 1842. Nabucco is usually considered to be the work that established Verdi's reputation as a composer.
