Dvořák String Sextet, Op. 48

Antonín Dvořák composed his String Sextet in A major, Op. 48 (also catalogued as B. 80) in 1878. The work is in four movements, and it's written for two violins, two violas, and two cellos. It was Dvorak's first piece to be premiered outside of Bohemia. During the 1875-1879 period, Dvorak received several government grants, which enables him to concentrate solely on composing. This resulted in a prolific output during those years, with one of the works being the String Sextet. The composition was published by Fritz Simrock in 1879.
