Chopin Waltzes, Op. 69

Frédéric Chopin wrote his Waltz in A flat major, Op. 69 no. 1, in 1835. It was apparently conceived as a farewell piece to Maria Wodzinska, to whom he had been enganged. It is thus known as the Farewell waltz, or Valse de l'adieu. Several versions of the manuscript exist. The Waltz no. 2 in B minor seems to have been written earlier, around 1829, but it was only published after Chopin's death. It should be noted that Chopin had asked that many of his unpublished works - including the Waltz in B minor - were burnt after he passed away.
