Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante, Op. 22
Frédéric Chopin composed the Grande Polonaise Brillante in E flat major in 1831. It is an ebullient work for piano and orchestra, though often the piano part is played on its own. After receiving an invitation to play in Paris, Chopin wrote the Andante Spianato as an introductory piece, joining both movements with a fanfare-like section. The combined work was published in 1836, dedicated to Madame d'Este.
