Bach Suite in E minor, BWV 996

The Suite in E minor, BWV 996, was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1712. It was intended for the lute or the lautenwerk, a period keyboard instrument that reproduced the characteristic sound of the lute. Nowadays Bach's lautenwerk pieces have become standard guitar repertoire items (sometimes in transposed keys). The BWV 996 suite was first published in 1866.
