Mendelssohn Piano Trio no. 1 in D minor, Op. 49

Felix Mandelssohn completed his Piano Trio no. 1 in D minor, Op. 49, in 1839, and published it the following year. It is a work for piano, violin, and cello, and it has been recognized as one of Mendelssohn's most popular chamber works, toghether with the Octet Op. 20. Upon reviewing the Piano Trio, Rober Schumman declared Mendelssohn "the Mozart of the nineteenth century, the most illuminating of musicians."
