Violin Sonata no. 1 in G major 'Rain sonata', Op. 78
The Violin Sonata no. 1 in G, Op. 78 was composed by Brahms during the summers of 1878-79. In was first performed in Boon. Each of the three movements share common motivic ideas or thematic materials from the head motif of Brahms Regenlied and Nachklang songs: this sonata is in fact nicknamed Regen-sonate (Rain sonata).
