Canzoni, Book I (or 'Libro primo delle canzoni') is a set of pieces composed in 1628 by Girolamo Frescobaldi. These are scored for 1-4 undifined instruments in SATB roles, without an stipulated accompaniment. The first page indicates violin or cornetto for a voice, so strings or brass ensembles are implied. The original subtitle of the work is 'canzoni ad una, due, tre, e quattro voci. accomodate, per sonare ogni sorte de stromenti', which means that the pieces should work on any instrument.
