10 Variations on 'La stessa, la stessissima' by Salieri, WoO 73
This piece was written in 1799. Salieri was Beethoven's teacher, much admired by him. It is only natural then that Beethoven choose one of his themes to write variations on, specially in the years he seemed to be most interested in fashioning variations after popular opera melodies.
