Tango Notenblättermusik

Tango defines both a partner dance and the music that arose with it, originating in Argentina at the turn of the 20th century. Though in its beginning it was inspired by habanera, tango flamenco, milonga, and other Iberoamerican fokloric genres, the resulting music quickly absorbed influences from many other sources. Tango had its golden age from the 1930s to the 1960s, roughly contemporaneous with the big band era in the United States. After that, the enormous influence Astor Piazolla exerted over the whole genre created a new form of tango that included jazz elements and academic procedures (pure contrapuntal writing, for example). Nowadays, 'tango' is a label applied to a diverse number of musical products, that range from the very typical to tango-flavored electronic music.
