Richard Burmeister Sheet Music

Richard Burmeister was a German pianist, composer and musical educator. First, a pupil of Adolf Mehrkens in Hamburg, he studied from 1881 to 1884 with Franz Liszt in Weimar, Rome and Budapest. In 1884 and 1885 he toured Germany, Austria-Hungary, England and France. 1885 to 1897 he taught as a professor at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, the Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. During this time he undertook numerous tours throughout the United States, but also to Germany, where he performed for the first time as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic on 18 February 1893. From 1897 to 1903 he was director of the Scharwenka Conservatory of Music in New York. In 1903 he was appointed as a university teacher education classes at the Royal Conservatory in Dresden, where he worked until 1906 and then in Berlin moved to the Klindworth-Scharwenka Conservatory, where he taught until 1925. 1925 to 1933 he lived in Merano, then again in Berlin.
