Louis Francoeur, also called Francoeur l'ainé was a French violinist and composer. He received his musical education from Joseph, called Francoeur père (circa 1662-1741), player of basse de violon, member of the from 1706 Vingt-quatre Violons du Roi. In 1704 he entered the Opéra Orchestra and in 1710 he gets Jean-Baptiste Anet's position at Vingt-quatre Violons, becoming first violinist in 1717.
