Giovanni Battista Crivelli was an Italian musician. It is possible that he might have received his first musical training at the Cathedral of Reggio Emilia, where he led his theological studies. In Sept. 24 1614 he was elected as an organist in the cathedral itself, probably in place of G. Morenghi, with a contract period of three years. In October 10 1617 he was confirmed with the same salary. After expiry of the contract, renewed its agreement with the regents of the cathedral for three years. But a year later, in December of 1618, interrupted his service temporarily and then quit in October 24 1619. In 1620 he became master of the chapel in the church of the Holy Spirit in Ferrara. He then returned to Reggio Emilia and in 1635 became maestro di cappella at the Basilica of Chiara. The work of Crivelli is in line with the rest of the Italian production of the period. His motets and madrigals were clearly affected by the compositive trends of that period as both show the concertante style.
