Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari was an Italian composer. He was a singing teacher and harpsichordist in Paris, moving to London in 1792. He presented operas in both cities and also wrote fashionable vocal and piano music. Later he worked in Italy and in Edinburgh. His writings include valuable memoirs (1830). Ferrari devoted much of his work to the vocal music: he was singing teacher and author of treatises, composer of opera seria and opera buffa, and also wrote a a large amount of airs. His only Opera of which the whole score survided is Li Two Swiss, represented in London in 1799. Conspicuous is also its production of instrumental music, among which there are piano concertos, sonatas for piano and violin pieces for harp, compositions for various chamber wider (septet, etc.).
