Franz Xaver Thaddeus Chotek, original name Kotek , written also Khotek was a Czech composer. Life in the Viennese high society influenced his development as a composer. In his compositions prevail arrangements and transcriptions of popular operas (Gaetano Donizetti, Saverio Mercadante, Gioacchino Rossini, Jacques Fromental Halévy, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Meyerbeer, Giacomo Puccini) and folk songs for piano four hands. He also wrote several variations on popular opera themes. In addition, he wrote and published a number of instructive pieces for the needs of his pupils. Sacred compositions remained mostly in manuscript, and many of them are lost.
