Auguste Descarries Sheet Music

Auguste Descarries was a Canadian organist, pianist, composer and professor. Auguste Descarries showed early interest in music. He first studied law and then turned to music. He won the European prize for piano in 1921 and lived in Paris for nine years. Before leaving for Europe, he gave the inaugural recital in the blessing of the new Casavant organ in the church of the Holy Guardian Angels, April 7, 1921. He became organist-choirmaster at Saint-Germain church and St. Viateur d'Outremont. He worked as piano teacher at the Montreal Conservatory of Music from 1944 until his death. He was also vice-dean of the Faculty of Music in 1951 from the University of Montreal until his death in 1958. He was the son of the mayor of Lachine, Joseph Adelard Descarries. A street in Boucherville, a suburb of Montreal, bears his name.
