Anton Foerster was a composer of the Romantic period. The brother of Josef Foerster worked from 1868 to 1909 as Director of Music in Ljubljana and headed from 1877, the Organ School of Caecilienvereins. He composed the today still performed comic opera Gorenjski Slavček (1870-71 originally emerged as an operetta) and the opera Cathedral in rod (1919-23), also masses, and Slovenian folk songs. He also wrote several textbooks.
