Antoine-Nicolas-Marie Fontaine was a French violinist. He received his first violin lessons from his father, musician of the Opera. He was pupil of M. Lafont, Kreutzer and Baillot. He entered the Paris conservatory in 1806, and won the violin first price at at the 1809 contest. He also studied harmony with Catel and Dausoigne, and composition with Reicha. He published several concertos, solos and airs variés for violin, which achieved a great success and were performed in many concerts.
